Potty Training is Tough!

When I first started potty training I never thought that I would have to be playing the "battle of the wills" game! I should have known...all it would have taken was a bit of observation from a mother who has a very stubborn child!

Two days ago we started out...and just about quit! Things were not looking so good. It would typically go something like this:
mom - "do you need to go potty?"
Laynee - "ok"
Then the screaming and crying and and screaming and crying would commence after about 2 seconds on the potty. Then she would finally get off and have an accident! AAAHHHHH!

So, I decided to call around to my family - most of them have recently been through all of this - not too much luck on day one! Day two went much better. I talked with Cassie my sis-in-law and she gave me hope!

So, Tuesday and today have been much better. Mostly because she told me that above all, I am not allowed to get overly frustrated! I am the one who has to be the "big girl" first! Losing my temper with a two year old was bad news! She tends to do it much better than I do anyway!

So, day three comes around and low and behold, I think she just might get it! We even ventured out to register my car and had success in the public bathroom! WOOOHOOO! Hopefully all continues to go well and we can quit buying diapers at least for a little while...don't know when another one is coming yet.

  1. I'm so glad you found something that works for Alayna! She is already going in the public bathrooms?! That's great! Joseph was afraid of the big toilets and wouldn't go! He's getting better, but he still has moments where he freaks out.

  2. Isn't potty training grand? Hang in there, it sounds like she is getting it and doing great!
