Win Some...Lose Some

Yesterday was a big day at our house...but, I will start at the beginning.

So my Sister and her family came Tuesday after Chris' sisiter and her family left Monday. Just call us hotel cottrell!! Anyway, she has a 7 year old girl named Sarah. Alayna just adores Sarah and tries to do everything just like her. Well, Sarah has a doll that she takes to bed with her every night. She calls it Miss Kitty. It is a Hello Kitty doll/pillow thing. Well, Laynee just fell in love with the darn thing and threw the biggest fit when Sarah took it home with her on Friday. She figured she should have one since Sarah had one-makes since to a 2 year old!! Well, Friday night was tricky trying to get Alayna to stay in bed, but it finally worked.

On a side note, Laynee actually figured out how to open and close the doors to the rooms now...so keeping her in bed became exponentially difficult...since she can get in and out of her room by herself now!!!

So...Saturday morning we made a quick trip to Toys R Us and found a "Miss Kitty" for Alayna. Naptime was much easier on Saturday than bed time was on Friday. Well, on to our big day.

Bed Time Saturday Night -
The usual routine takes place: bath, brush teeth, read books, sing songs, say prayers, go to bed with the bink???? Oh no!!!!!.....can't seem to find a bink!!!! Then, it hit me, my moment of brilliance!!! I looked at Alayna and said, "Sarah doesn't sleep with a bink, she only sleeps with Miss Kitty." Laynee looked at me and then said, "OK."

NO WAY was the thought going through my head. There was no way that it would be that easy to get rid of the coveted bink. (Oh, forgot to tell you that Laynee doesn't need just one bink to sleep the child needs at least two and perferably three - that is a whole other story by itself) Anywhoo, apparently it was that easy. She went to bed just fine and slept through the night. And it gets even better...nap time was a piece of cake too!!!!!

All I have to say is, if this really works, THANK YOU SARAH!!!! My little niece is my new hero!! I have been dreading the day that we have to get rid of those silly binks. But, now I see that all of my dreading was for nothing. BRILLIANT!!!

I suppose it is another battle won for the mother and apparently all I had to to was bye a stuffed cat and loose the binks!!

  1. I keep trying to post and keep getting interrupted!! But I want you to know that I understand the feelings about your Gram. As a Grandmother myself, I keep wanting to try to do the things that my grandkids will remember and the things that will mean something to them. I watch my Gram sleep in the chair sometimes when I go over to Lincoln court and I just wonder so many things. Grandmothers have such a neat impact on our lives. Remember, a part of her will always be with you. and as for the binky and Alayna - Yea!! Can you believe it! The binky isn't really a bad thing but everything is a step forward. I love Hello Kitty and Whitney always suckers me into something for her, but it's all good. Have a great day, T.

  3. So, now you should continue that on..."Your cousin wears big girl undies..." Although weren't you telling me the other day she's kind of potty training herself? Maybe she can come over and give my kids some incentive or something! (Well, kid; Ivy's too little still.)

  4. Hailey was the same way with getting rid of the bink. Just one day i couldn't find on and i was like, oh it is gone and she did fine. The first night was easy, the next week was just okay, but she isn't that good of a sleeper anyway. And she had to have three in her bed too, one in mouth and one in each hand, lol. I just started this blogging thing, but it is fun to stay updated on people. And by the way, Alyana is a cutie!(Michelle Wagoner, formerly Michelle Wade, friend of Daniel's, so you know who i am) =)
